First Lieutenant Prepares for Business Career with Military Course Online

Sonya Moore, First Lieutenant, United States Army

First Lieutenant Moore wants to start her own business. She chose Allied to get small business training she needs to reach her goals and make a smooth military transition. As she performs her duties as a Commissioned Officer in the California Army National Guard, she looks ahead to her future as a business owner.

She is currently assigned to the Army Entertainment Detachment of the United States Army.  First Lieutenant Moore performs in the United States Army Soldier Show. When she returns to the National Guard, she will be a Logistics Officer.

First Lieutenant Moore developed her business skills through Allied’s Introduction to the Principles of Small Business Management course. The convenient online military course helped her complete her coursework according to her own schedule. From developing a business plan to marketing a business, she received the tools to ease into the civilian workplace.
"Online military distance learning has helped because it has allowed me the opportunity to learn at my own pace while touring on the road,” said First Lieutenant Moore. "The military education benefit provided me with 100% Tuition Assistance and helped me get started."

She has her sights set on opening a business that enables her to promote her own musical talents while providing entertainment in Northern California. First Lieutenant Moore wants to become a successful performer and promoter, and plans to continue her business education.

Systems Specialist Finds Success With Military Distance Learning

Mr. Leis, Systems Specialist (ret.), United States Air Force

Mr. Leis entered the military to set his life on a new path. He joined the Air Force early in his career and moved around frequently. He performed his military duties, but wanted to prepare for a successful second career. That is when Allied Schools entered his life and provided convenient online military courses.

Mr. Leis wanted to train for a new career in a fast-paced manner, and decided to enroll in Allied's military course online. When he was sent to Iraq, the convenient online classes enabled him to continue his military distance learning training through the use of his computer.

“Allied is the place to go. The military will pay for it,” said Mr. Leis. “Anybody anywhere has access to the Internet in the military.”

Mr. Leis retired from the Air Force in June 2006 and made a smooth military transition to civilian life. Today, he lives in the Sacramento area with his family, is a member of a local country club, and part owner of a growing business. He has the flexibility to work from home and “spend time with my son and never miss anything.”

Asked about his future, Mr. Leis is constantly looking ahead and finding ways to expand his business. He envisions having 20 to 30 salespeople working for his company someday. He is currently in the process of taking additional online military courses with Allied.

“Allied has been so important,” said Mr. Leis. “I have so many personal connections with Allied.”
