Allied American University (AAU) is a division of Allied Business Schools, Inc., an accredited, licensed, proprietary provider of distance education.  AAU is committed to providing online degree programs that meet or exceed all expectations for high quality in a student-centered service and support environment.  AAU benefits from its emphasis on educational programs that offer a wide variety of learning experiences that will lead to the acquisition of knowledge and skills necessary to achieve career advancement, personal satisfaction, and leadership and service to the community.  AAU’s commitment to high-quality degree programs stresses the preparation of students to a sense of high responsibility in all phases of society and to fostering the growth of each individual’s capacity for self-awareness and sustained lifelong learning.

VISION STATEMENT & INSTITUTIONAL OBJECTIVES

AAU’s vision is to be a respected leader in providing excellent and relevant distance education through its commitment to providing high quality, affordable instruction resulting from a well-developed system of clear communication of mission, goals, and objectives; and to a continuous process of self-examination tied to data collection and feedback.  In pursuing this vision, AAU strives to fulfill the following institutional objectives:

  • Offering a dynamic, interactive distance education learning environment which engages students in the learning process through a rich, multi-media learning experience and through systematic contact with student services and educational support services representatives by phone and by email.
  • Developing competence in communication, critical thinking, collaboration, and information utilization, together with an interest in lifelong learning for enhancement of opportunities for job placement and sustained career success.
  • Broadening access to its degree programs for underserved constituencies. 
  • Maximizing employment potential for students by providing learning experiences within courses that satisfy all licensing/regulatory requirements.
  • Promoting student empowerment by encouraging students to use goal setting and time management activities.
  • Providing immediate and ongoing constructive feedback to students to promote self-assessment and motivation.
  • Ensuring that all courses provide clear learning outcomes, detailed instructions, and assessment which lead to course mastery and student success.
  • Embracing and promoting diversity in its policies and practices by preparing students to live and work successfully in an increasingly diverse workplace and society.
  • Using technology to create effective modes and means of instruction that expand access to learning.
  • Engaging in a constant process of continuous improvement through course assessment and revision to promote student mastery of the course, provide the most recent updates of content and objectives, and to ensure relevance to regulatory requirements.

Integrity

AAU promotes and conducts its operations and makes its public representations in an ethical manner that is both open and collaborative.  It is committed to practices which are fair, honest, and objective in dealing with students, faculty, staff, and stakeholders at all levels of the community.

Quality

AAU maintains a strong commitment to standards that meet or exceed those set by most accrediting and regulatory bodies in all aspects of its educational activities, outcomes, and support services.  It continuously monitors and assesses practices, policies, and procedures to continuously strengthen the overall effectives of its curriculum, instructional delivery, and operations.

Effective Written and Oral Communication

Allied American University promotes the development of effective oral and written communication skills that lead to the clear expression of ideas, feelings, and information in a purposeful manner.  Effective communication has the benefit of building trust and respect through honest and direct discourse.

Critical Thinking

AAU believes that one of the most important outcomes of its curriculum is that its students develop a disciplined process of actively conceptualizing, analyzing, and applying information that enables them to use that information as a guide to action.   Skills of critical thinking include development and use of essential tools of inquiry; and purposeful, self-regulatory judgment that results in interpretation, analysis, evaluation, and inference.  Taken together, these skills should lead to reflective thought and a tolerance for ambiguity.
