Completion of Pharmacy Technician and Pharmacy Calculations provides students with the information needed to sit for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) exam and earn your Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) credential.

Pharmacy Technician

Pharmacy Technician covers the fundamental knowledge required of today's pharmacy technicians. Learn about the essentials of medical history, pharmacy settings, drug regulation and administration, terminology, formulating and calculating prescriptions, elements of patient interaction, and much more. From understanding the role of the pharmacy technician to learning the complete prescription process, you will have the know-how of what it takes to work in any pharmacy setting.

Pharmacy Calculations

Pharmacy Calculations provides an in-depth study of how to calculate solutions for pharmaceutical problems using basic math – an essential skill of today's pharmacy technician! You will also learn how to determine calculations for pharmaceutical problems in a community and institutional pharmacy. With your ability to compute mathematical problems, you will be an asset to any pharmacy team.

Pharmacology

Pharmacology covers basic pharmacology principles in addition to monographs on the common drugs and prescriptions. You will find out how to differentiate among drug classifications, terminology, spelling conventions, and pronunciations, including a thorough review of mathematics and dosage calculations.  Clinical implications and contraindications will be reviewed for each body system. You will also learn about special considerations for children, pregnant and nursing women, 100% Tuition Assistance for Active Duty (for most programs)the aging patient population, end-of-life care, substance abuse, and herbal or alternative drug/herb interactions.

Exam Prep

The exam prep preparea students to pass the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board’s (PTCB) certification exam and become a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT). The Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCB) consists of 90 multiple-choice questions, 10 of which are pre-test questions. Prepare in advance and take your exam with confidence. Allied’s exam prep includes 450+ prep questions, a 120-page National Certification Study Guide and links to PTCB practice exams.

Pharmacy Technician Externship

Upon successfully completing your program and passing the PTCB exam, Allied will arrange a valuable externship experience for you.
