Allied’s Medical Billing Career Training Program provides you with a solid background of billing and terminology to make you a well-rounded addition to the medical field. You will have the skills to join a medical office team or work on your own as a medical billing specialist. Utilize your billing knowledge, office skills and terminology training to build your new career. The program covers three courses: Medical Terminology for Billing, Medical Billing and Insurance Billing and Reimbursement. Upon successful completion of this program, students will be awarded one certificate. Medical Terminology for Billing
Medical Terminology will provide your career with a solid basis of medical knowledge. You will learn the meaning and pronunciation of specific medical terms, including prefixes, suffixes, root words, and abbreviations. Gain an overall understanding of 
essential terminology.
You will be introduced to the body systems through vivid and descriptive images that are labeled for easy reference. Explanations of diseases and conditions will be presented along with diagnostic tests and procedures. Your training will provide you with a solid foundation and give you the additional tools you need to succeed as a medical billing specialist.
Medical Billing
Medical Billing provides you with the ability to oversee the billing procedures of a medical office. Learn how to accurately complete claim forms and bill insurance companies with effective hands-on training. Patient confidentiality, privacy, and HIPAA requirements will be reviewed. An introduction to basic health insurance and the major types of health insurance programs in the United States will also be covered in detail. Emphasis will be placed on the need for correct diagnostic and procedural coding, and the role that medical documentation plays to obtain maximum reimbursement. Your administrative background and billing knowledge will make you an asset to any medical office. Apply your skills in a doctor’s office, hospital, clinic or other medical setting.
Insurance Billing and Reimbursement
Insurance Billing and Reimbursement trains you to accurately bill for medical services and submit claims for reimbursement in a timely manner. You will learn about the different types of insurance plans such as: private insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, Health Maintenance Organizations or HMO’s, TRICARE for military service members and their dependents, and CHAMPVA for military veterans. You will be introduced to hospital billing requirements with an emphasis on the role of the billing specialist in a hospital or ambulatory care environment. This course offers you the opportunity to practice what you have learned using “real life” documents and billing scenarios to improve your skills and prepare you to find a position as a medical billing specialist.
