Medical Terminology for administrative assistants teaches you the accurate uses, definitions, spelling, and pronunciations of complex medical terminology and how to apply this language to your medical administrative assistant career. You will learn how to: analyze terms from all major body systems while learning to divide them into suffixes, prefixes, combining forms, and root words; relate medical terms to the structural organization of the body; use practical applications to link abnormal conditions
and diseases with diagnostic tests and procedures and interventional treatment modalities; and apply common medical abbreviations, acronyms, eponyms, and symbols.
Allied’s Medical Administrative Assisting course will teach you common administrative duties performed in medical facilities nationwide. You will be taught proper techniques for answering telephones, scheduling appointments and surgeries, updating medical records, and how to handle all types of correspondence. You will also learn how to construct patient charts and manage office records. Additionally, you will learn accounting, medical coding and billing procedures. Throughout this course, you will engage in a hands-on training experience that introduces electronic health records software applications that are commonly used in a medical setting.
