Prerequisite: 75-Hour Anatomy and Physiology Course. Prospective students can demonstrate prerequisite knowledge through proof of experience or an entry exam.
As a medical coder, you need to be prepared for the implementation of ICD-10 codes. The new coding system will go from 13,000 to more than 68,000 codes. A thorough ICD-10 education will mean greater familiarity and readiness when the changes officially go into effect 
on October 1, 2013. Prepare for a smooth transition from ICD-9 codes to the internationally-recognized ICD-10 coding system.
Your career requires you to learn the new ICD-10 codes. Your ICD-10 training will include the fundamentals, organization, and structure of this new coding classification system. Extensive training will be provided so that you understand and apply the ICD-10-CM Official Guidelinesfor Coding and Reporting, 2010 version. Understand the similarities and differences between ICD-10-CM and ICD-9-CM, including chapter-specific changes and new coding rules and guidelines.
Certified coders: This ICD-10 online course will prepare you to successfully pass the required ICD-10 proficiency exam required by the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) in order to maintain your professional coding credentials.
