Soldiers have access to a variety of programs that assist and/or cover the costs associated with getting an education. These programs are generally known as Voluntary Education or Vol. Ed. The Army Continuing Education System (ACES) offers VOL ED programs to help Soldiers more easily attain their educational goals. These programs include:

 

Go Army Ed

GoArmyEd is an online portal that allows active duty Soldiers to request Army Tuition Assistance (TA) anytime for classroom, distance learning, and eArmyU online college courses. GoArmyEd provides an automated process that has replaced some of the processes that were historically conducted with your Army Education Counselor.

Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges (SOCAD)

SOCAD is the Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges (SOC) degree program for the Army.

  • SOCAD is a network of colleges offering degree programs on or accessible at Army bases worldwide.
  • A college in the SOCAD network will accept credits from other colleges in the SOCAD network.

SOCAD also guarantees that Soldiers and their adult family members can continue toward completion of a degree regardless of required transfers. There are also degrees available by distance learning that require no classroom residency.
